How to Install a Ceiling Fluorescent Light

Step-by-Step Instructions

Determine the mounting location. The first step is to determine where you want to mount the light fixture. Once you have chosen a location, mark the center of the mounting bracket on the ceiling.
Drill pilot holes. Using a drill, drill four pilot holes around the perimeter of the mounting bracket. The pilot holes should be slightly smaller than the screws that you will be using to mount the bracket.
Mount the bracket. Place the mounting bracket over the pilot holes and secure it with the screws. Make sure that the bracket is level.
Connect the wires. The next step is to connect the wires from the light fixture to the wires from the ceiling. Make sure that the black wires are connected to each other, the white wires are connected to each other, and the green or bare copper ground wire is connected to the ground wire from the ceiling.
Install the light fixture. Once the wires are connected, you can install the light fixture. Simply lift the fixture up to the mounting bracket and twist it into place.
Install the bulbs. The final step is to install the fluorescent bulbs. To do this, simply insert the bulbs into the sockets and twist them until they are secure.
