How To Install Can Lights In Vaulted Ceiling

Adding can lights to a vaulted ceiling can be a great way to improve the lighting in your home. However, it is important to have the lights installed correctly to avoid any safety hazards. This guide will provide you with step-by-step instructions on how to install can lights in a vaulted ceiling.

Step 1: Gather Your Materials and Tools

Before you begin, you will need to gather the following materials and tools: - Can lights - Electrical wire - Wire strippers - Crimpers - Drill - Hole saw - Drywall saw - Level - Screwdriver

Step 2: Mark The Location of The Lights

Once you have gathered your materials, you will need to mark the location of the lights on the ceiling. To do this, measure the height of the ceiling and divide it by 6 to determine the distance between the lights. Mark the location of the lights with a pencil.

Step 3: Drill The Holes For The Lights

Once you have marked the location of the lights, you will need to drill the holes for the lights. To do this, use a hole saw that is slightly larger than the diameter of the cans. Drill the holes at the marked locations.

Step 4: Cut The Electrical Wire

Once you have drilled the holes, you will need to cut the electrical wire. Cut the wire to the length that you need to reach from the junction box to the can lights. Strip the ends of the wire about 1/2 inch.

Step 5: Install The Electrical Wire

Once you have cut the electrical wire, you will need to install it. To do this, connect the wire to the junction box and the can lights. Use wire strippers to strip the ends of the wire, and then crimp the wire connectors onto the ends of the wire. Push the wires into the junction box and the can lights, and then secure the wires with screws.

Step 6: Install The Can Lights

Once you have installed the electrical wire, you will need to install the can lights. To do this, insert the can lights into the holes that you drilled in the ceiling. Push the can lights until they are flush with the ceiling. Secure the can lights with screws.

Step 7: Install The Light Bulbs

Once you have installed the can lights, you will need to install the light bulbs. To do this, insert the light bulbs into the can lights. Turn on the light bulbs to make sure that they are working properly.

Step 8: Install The Trim

Once you have installed the light bulbs, you will need to install the trim. To do this, place the trim around the can lights. Secure the trim with screws.

Step 9: Enjoy Your New Lights!

Once you have installed the trim, you can enjoy your new lights! Your vaulted ceiling will now be well-lit, and you will be able to see everything clearly.
